International Deaf Emergency (IDE) is a non-profit organization singularly dedicated to advocating for the Deaf community in times of crisis. Our mission is to ensure that deaf individuals have equal access to emergency services and support during natural disasters, conflicts, and other humanitarian emergencies.
At IDE, our primary objective is clear—to actively advocate for the reduction of disaster impact on the global deaf community.
We believe in leveraging our expertise and influence to bring about systemic change that ensures the unique needs of the deaf and hard of hearing are not only recognized but also prioritized in disaster response strategies.
IDE plays a crucial role in shaping inclusive policies. From participating as panelists and moderators in UN events to contributing insights at the Alliance Disability Alliance (IDA), we actively work towards influencing policies that safeguard the Deaf individuals in crisis situations.
IDE strongly believes in the power of local leadership. We provide empowerment programs to local Deaf organizations, offering leadership courses, disaster preparedness training, and financial support. Through these initiatives, IDE aims to build resilience within national and local communities and enhance their capacity to respond effectively to massive disasters.
IDE calls on organizations, governments, and communities worldwide to recognize the unique challenges faced by the Deaf community during emergencies. We advocate for proactive measures, inclusive policies, and targeted initiatives that ensure the safety, accessibility, and well-being of the global Deaf community in times of crisis.
International Deaf Emergency envisions a world where the Deaf community not only survives but thrives in the face of massive disasters. Through our dedicated efforts, we aim to create a global paradigm shift in emergency response—one that prioritizes inclusivity, accessibility, and empowerment.
At IDE, every action we take is a step towards building a safer, more equitable world for the deaf communities in the world.
If you share our passion for serving and advocating for the Deaf community, we invite you to join our team. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of individuals facing disasters.
